Dhela Safari Zone

The Dhela Safari Zone is one of the most beautiful and ecologically diverse areas of Jim Corbett National Park, located in the southern buffer region near Ramnagar, Uttarakhand. Established in 2014, Dhela is the newest ecotourism zone of Corbett and has quickly gained popularity among wildlife enthusiasts for its rich biodiversity, picturesque landscapes, and excellent safari experience.

About the Dhela Zone

The entry gate to Dhela Zone is located approximately 20 km from Ramnagar town, making it easily accessible for visitors. Spread across mixed forest vegetation including Sal, Haldu, Bahera, and Rohini trees, the area offers a perfect blend of dense woodland, open grasslands, and water bodies. This variety of habitats supports a large number of wildlife species such as Elephants, Deer, Wild Boar, Sloth Bears, and the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger.

The Dhela Zone is also a paradise for bird watchers, with more than 200 bird species recorded in the area. From migratory birds in winter to resident species all year round, the zone provides ample opportunities for photography and nature observation.

Safari Experience

Visitors can explore the Dhela Zone through an exciting Jeep Safari, which allows close encounters with wildlife in their natural surroundings. Each safari jeep accommodates up to six visitors, along with a trained guide and driver. Safaris are available in two shifts daily—morning and afternoon—and can be conveniently booked online through the official Jim Corbett Safari Booking portal.

Best Time to Visit

The Dhela Zone remains open throughout the year, making it one of the few zones accessible even during the monsoon. However, the best time for wildlife sightings is from November to April.
